Radial Shock Wave Therapy

Radial shock waves are high-pressure mechanical waves emitted by an electro-pneumatic system and transmitted through the skin surface to the various pathological tissues.

They allow to calm the pain while treating tendon lesions.

These waves cause micro-lesions that help to remodel and soften the damaged fibrous scar area. The body reacts by increasing the metabolism of the treated zone, which stimulates the healing process. This technique reduces calcium deposits, as well as sensitivity to pain.

The success rate is high, varying according to the studies between 70 and 80%.

Indications for radial shock waves:

  •  Tendinopathies (calcifying or non-calcifying tendinitis of the shoulder, epicondylitis or tennis elbow, epitrochleitis or golf ''elbow, Achilles tendinitis, insertional tendinopathies, patellar tendinitis, gluteus medius tendinopathy)

  •  Calcifications

  •  Plantar fasciitis, heel spur, plantar fasciitis

  •  Periostitis

  •  Trochanteric bursitis

  •  Acupuncture points

  •  Complications of muscle injuries (strains, tears)

  •  Trigger Points (contractures)
